Dextra Group plc. Dunbarney Primary School Perth, Scotland

Providing the right light levels in schools is an important part in creating the ideal aesthetics for learning and development, and with school budgets under the spotlight on a regular basis, improved energy efficiency can mean the money saved can be spent on other more important priorities at the school.

Dextra Group plc. achieved both energy savings and improved aesthetics in its latest project for Dunbarney Primary School. The school serves the community of Bridge of Earn, 10 miles south east of Perth in Scotland. There has been a school on the present site since 1874. The original school was built to accommodate 185 pupils and was refurbished and extended in 1996.

Today, the school roll has risen to around 220 pupils in the main primary school with between 30 to 40 pupils attending its nursery. The present building has spacious classrooms, a large playground and a beautiful garden area for the children to enjoy.

On this project, Dextra worked with Perth & Kinross Council and contractor EW Edwardson to improve and upgrade the lighting. A selection of Dextra products were installed including Graduate, AME2, Typhon, Amenity Decorative and Avalon Wallpack.

The Graduate is a mainstay of the Dextra range and has been extensively used in schools and hospitals nationwide. On this project, the majority of Graduates were installed with REACTA AIR (RAS) with integral sensors for autonomous control and wireless override wall switches.

18 high output Graduates were installed with REACTA CONTROL (RC) with wireless switching in the main hall to manually adjust levels depending on the use of the area. Dunbarney Primary School is committed to working in partnership with parents to provide an excellent standard of education which supports and encourages each individual to achieve their academic and personal potential.
